Family Photos

I was very faithful with my albums, I would write on the pages how old the girls were, what they were doing, funny things they had said when we were taking the picture.
Then digital came along and because you no longer had to pay for film, we started taking waaaaaaay more pictures. We stopped printing them out, and in the abundance of photos, they kind of lost something. They just seemed to disappear into the vacuum of endless images on our computer. So over time I started to find ways to enjoy our pictures again.
For me, I tend to make albums on Facebook. I can type underneath them what was happening, where we were. I really like getting comments from friends and from each other about what we were doing.
But if you have a really special picture, something that's fun is to have it blow up into a poster and put it somewhere unexpected. In our powder room, I have a 36"x24" poster of the girls when they were 6 & 7 years old. We had spent a vacation visiting my grandpa, they're in his garden, arms around each other's shoulders, hair braided, in their short denim overalls, with their new adult teeth too big for their little faces. It's darling. I had it made up at London Drugs for about $35 dollars, and framed it in an Ikea frame. Every time I'm in there it makes me smile, and friends that come over always comment on it.
I hope you enjoyed your Spring Break, whether you spent it away or at home. That you had lots of time together, that new memories were made, and that you've got the pictures to prove it! If you've just taken some great family photos over this Spring Break, don't forget to organize them. Now. Quick! Now, while the memories are still fresh in your head.
And I'd love to see them!! Please upload pictures of you and your family to our Your Apron Strings Facebook wall. We'll start our own "family" album!

I love that picture! I love family pictures hanging in a home! By the way, I'm sure I'm speaking not only for myself when I say I'd love to see more photos of your home.
Lol, a house tour? Well maybe...
Hi Shonna! I've really been enjoying your blog, and hope you begin writing again more frequently. I am a local mom (your eldest daughter sent me a link to your blog) of three young children myself, and appreciate your perspectives & wisdom. Thank you!
Hi C.
Thanks! I'm so glad you find the posts useful! I have been thinking about starting up again.
What topics would you like to see addressed? I'd love to hear what your current interests, struggles and family commitments are.
:)
