How old were you when you got married?

How long have you been married?

26 years. (As of June 2015)

How many kids do you have?  How old are they?

We have two girls, Megan-Jane, who was born in 1990, and is married to her high school sweetheart Drew.  They have two little girls, Elisabeth Grace and Patience Jane, born in 2013 & 2015.  Our younger daughter, Bethany, was born in 1992, and is married to David, who she fell head over heels for when they got to know each other at Greenbay Bible Camp.  Bethany and David welcomed their first daughter, Poppy Darling, in 2014, and their second, Goldie Bloom in 2015 - little Goldie went to be with Jesus just 10 short days after she was born.  Both couples live near by, so we get to see them lots and we're so excited to have precious, little babes near enough to snuggle!

Were you always home when your kids were growing up?

Yes.  Before the girls were born I worked at an executive search firm and then at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver in the Sales and Catering offices, but I was a full time, at home mom, since I became pregnant with our first daughter.  Before we were married, my husband and I had decided that we would always live off souley what he earned, so that deciding to have children would simply be an emotional decision, not a financial one.  It was the best decision we ever made, as it allowed me to be home full time with our girls while they were growing up.

Why do you write only to at home moms?

Because I only was an at home mom.  I know that working moms, women without children and men also read the blog and I love that.  It's fun to hear comments from people in every different stage and situation and to know that things I've written are resonating with them.  But my advice is specifically written for at home moms, and sometimes to their husbands.  I don't claim to know what it's like to balance work and motherhood, so I stick to what's familar.

What made you decide to write this blog?

I wanted to create a forum from which I could offer support and encouragement to at home moms.  When I was a young wife raising our family, I was very blessed to not only have had a mom to turn to whenever I needed advice, but also a mother-in-law and many other older woman all of whom had been at home moms and knew what I was going through.  They modelled what it was to be intensional about running a home and raising a family and over the years I learned so much simply by being around them.  I was never without someone to turn to and I feel a real responsibility to pass that blessing and those lessons along to younger wives and mothers.
